Mamey Sapote Inspection Instructions

There are no U.S. grade standards for Mamey Sapote. These instructions have been developed by the Specialty Crops Inspection Division to assist officially licensed inspectors in making inspections, writing certificates and to assist in the proper identification of specialty type fruits and vegetables.

Mamey Sapote (Sapodillo, Mexican Custard Apple) is relatively new to Florida. It is picked hard but is considered mature. It has a thick skin and ships well. Some compare the taste to a sweet pumpkin or sweet potato.
